5 days · Morocco (Souss-Massa & Anti-Atlas)
Discover Morocco Tours charges £1,090
No-markup version: ~£234 per person
Estimate only, not a guaranteed price. Always verify costs independently before booking.
A self-launched version of Discover Morocco Tours' 5-day Agadir–Tafraoute–Sidi Ifni loop, done entirely on local transport. You'll overnight in Agadir, ride a grand taxi or shared minibus into the almond-and-argan country of the Anti-Atlas to Tafraoute, then drop down to the faded Spanish-era seaside town of Sidi Ifni before looping back along the coast via Legzira's sea arches, Mirleft and the Berber jewellery sellers of Tiznit. Everything the operator includes — Kasbah Agadir Oufella, Tiznit's shoe and jewellery markets, the painted rocks, Kasbah Tizourgane, Legzira Beach — is doable independently for around a fifth of the package price. Costs are rough backpacker estimates in GBP, assuming a shared twin/double or dorm and local buses and shared taxis.
Day-by-day
Arrive Agadir: beach, medina and sunset at the kasbah
Agadir
Land at Agadir Al Massira (AGP) and take the local bus (line 22 or the airport shuttle, ~£2) or a shared grand taxi (~£8 split) into town. Check into a budget guesthouse or hostel in the Talborjt or Marina district — plenty of clean doubles and dorms from £15-25. Spend the afternoon on Agadir Beach, then walk up to the Kasbah Agadir Oufella ruins for the best free sunset view over the bay and port. Dinner in the Talborjt area: grilled sardines, tagine and mint tea for £6-9. Pick up a Moroccan SIM (Maroc Telecom or Orange, ~£8 for 10GB) if you don't have data yet.
🚌Airport bus (~£2) or shared grand taxi (~£8 split); everything else on foot

Agadir deep dive: argan co-operative, port fish market, Mohammed V Mosque
Agadir
Self-guided city day. Start at Agadir's working port and fish market in the morning — go early, it's the real deal and costs nothing to wander. Then visit the Mohammad V Mosque (free entry outside prayer times, modest dress). In the afternoon, take a local bus or taxi out to an argan oil co-operative on the edge of town (the Souk El Had area and nearby co-ops sell direct) to learn about the women's co-operative pressing process — an equivalent to the operator's included argan market visit. Optional: a 1.5-hour Atlantic boat trip from the marina with a local operator, roughly £20-25, or just swim at Agadir Beach. Book your onward transport this evening: the CTM/Supratours bus or a shared grand taxi to Tafraoute leaves early tomorrow.

Over the Anti-Atlas to Tafraoute via Kasbah Tizourgane
Tafraoute
Early start. Take the CTM or Supratours bus from Agadir to Tafraoute (around 3-3.5 hrs, ~£7-9) — the route climbs through argan groves and almond orchards into the Anti-Atlas, with proper windows-out scenery. Alternatively, a shared grand taxi from Agadir's Tafraoute taxi stand costs around £10-12 per seat, or a private grand taxi for the day with a stop at Kasbah Tizourgane near Ait Baha runs £45-60 for the car (split between travellers). If you take the bus, hop off or take a petit taxi to Kasbah Tizourgane, the fortified Berber granary on its rock outcrop — entry is around £2. Arrive Tafraoute, check into a small auberge (pensions from £15-22, like the family-run places on the main square). Afternoon: walk the pink-granite town yourself — the shoe market, the almond-oil stalls, and the almond-blossom valleys if you're here in Feb-March. Optional: hire a bike locally (~£8 for two hours) or take a petit taxi out to the Painted Rocks for sunset. Dinner at an auberge: £6-9.

Tafraoute painted rocks, then down to Sidi Ifni
Sidi Ifni
Get to the Painted Rocks early — a petit taxi out and back is about £10-12 for the car, or cycle if you hired a bike yesterday. Budget an hour for the boulders and the famous blue rocks, then return to town. Optional 2-hour hike in the granite hills around Tafraoute if you have time. Midday, head down to Sidi Ifni: there's no direct scheduled bus, so either take a shared grand taxi from Tafraoute to Tiznit (~£5-7 per seat, 1.5 hrs) and connect onward to Sidi Ifni (~£3-4), or negotiate a straight grand taxi for £30-40 for the car. Arrive in the wonderfully faded ex-Spanish colonial town, check into a simple hotel (Hotel Safa equivalent or cheaper pensions from £15-22), and walk the Art Deco old town, the lighthouse and the cliff path above the harbour. Dinner: fresh fish for £6-9.

Legzira arches, Mirleft and Tiznit, back to Agadir
Legzira Beach → Tiznit → Agadir
Take a grand taxi or local bus north to Legzira Beach (~£2-4, 25 min) and walk the sand to see the red sandstone sea arches — the smaller arch collapsed in 2016 but the main one still stands and the beach is one of the coast's best. Continue to Mirleft for a coffee and a swim at the beach (~£3-4 in a shared taxi). From Mirleft, take a shared grand taxi or bus down to Tiznit (~£3-4, 45 min), the walled silver town: spend an hour in the jewellery souk and the Berber silver workshops, plus a cheap lunch of grilled kefta or a tagine (£5-7). Then catch the CTM/Supratours bus or a shared grand taxi back to Agadir (~£5-7, 1.5-2 hrs), arriving late afternoon/early evening in time for onward flights or a last night in town. If you're flying out the same day, allow a buffer — Moroccan road transport runs on its own clock.
🚌Shared grand taxis/buses along the coast: Sidi Ifni→Legzira (~£2-4), Legzira→Mirleft (~£3-4), Mirleft→Tiznit (~£3-4), Tiznit→Agadir (~£5-7)

- →Legzira Beach sea arches
- →Mirleft beach
- →Tiznit silver and jewellery souk

Frequently asked questions
How much does Self-Launched Agadir, Tafraoute & Sidi Ifni: Anti-Atlas Loop cost?+
Doing it yourself with this self-launched itinerary costs an estimated £234 per person for 5 days in Morocco (Souss-Massa & Anti-Atlas). This is an AI-generated estimate based on typical budget-traveller prices — actual costs will vary by season and how you book.
Is this cheaper than booking with Discover Morocco Tours?+
Yes — Discover Morocco Tours charges around £1,090 per person for a similar tour. Doing the same route independently, using the same standard of accommodation and activities, costs an estimated £234 — a saving of roughly £856 (79%) per person.
How long is the Morocco (Souss-Massa & Anti-Atlas) trip?+
This itinerary runs 5 days, covering 5 day-by-day stops through Morocco (Souss-Massa & Anti-Atlas).
How do I join this trip?+
You can join an existing open departure using this itinerary if one is scheduled, or launch your own departure with your own dates and invite other travellers to join you — no tour operator required.
Isn't it easier to just use a tour operator?+
Well, yes, a tour operator will book all the individual parts of your travel for you and provide a guide. That's obvious, but doing this has the potential to save the group thousands, which can in turn improve your itinerary substantially or save you huge amounts of money. Also, when you launch a departure, Travel Crew has tools in place to help you book the individual sections of the trip or make it easier for you to do this as a group. Really, you do not need a middle man. If you are more comfortable paying more and using a middle man, then you should certainly do this.
Is it safer to book through a tour operator?+
Arguably, there isn't much difference. A self-launched trip runs on the same principle as a group travel crew: collective responsibility, everyone looking out for each other, the same way it would if a group of friends organised the trip themselves — because that's exactly what's happening. You should always take out travel insurance before you go, self-launched or not; that doesn't change either way. Every open departure is published publicly with real dates and a real trip organiser, so it's never an anonymous arrangement, and our support team is reachable any time you need help, including in an emergency while you're away. Longer-term, we're building direct relationships with ground DMCs in popular destinations, offered as an optional paid add-on for extra on-the-ground support. Ultimately, though, the group is responsible for its own conduct and safety on a self-launched trip, same as on any trip you plan yourself.
What kind of trip is this?+
This is a adventure, culture, beaches trip through Morocco (Souss-Massa & Anti-Atlas), self-launched rather than run by a tour operator — you organise it with a group you find or bring yourself.
