Then catch a Greyhound coach south to Coffs Harbour (~1.5 hrs) and take a local taxi or rideshare the short distance to Red Rock (~20 mins). Red Rock is a quiet beachside village at the mouth of the Corindi River. Pick up supplies from a local shop and fire up a BBQ at the holiday park this evening — a quintessential Aussie experience.

Gumbaynggirr SUP Experience then Byron Bay

This morning, head to the Wajaana Yaam Gumbaynggirr Canoe and Adventure Tours for a stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) experience on the Coffs Harbour river system. Glide along the river with local guides and soak up the cultural stories of the land. Afterwards, hop on a Greyhound coach to Byron Bay (~2.5 hrs). Check in, stroll to the Byron Bay Lighthouse for sunset views and dolphin-spotting.

Rise early to catch the sunrise from the Cape Byron Lighthouse, the first place in Australia to see the sun each day. Spend the day as you like: grab a cold-brew coffee from one of Byron's beloved cafes, take a beginner surf lesson on Main Beach, join a sea kayaking tour of Byron Bay Marine Park to spot dolphins and turtles, or simply laze on the beach. Tonight, join other travellers at one of Byron's laid-back bars — try the Railway Friendly Bar or the Beach Hotel.

The Farm, Springbrook National Park & Lamington National Park

Lamington National Park, QLD

Head north and stop first at The Farm Byron Bay at Ewingsdale — a working organic farm and community of micro-businesses. Grab breakfast here (the Three Blue Ducks restaurant is excellent but pricier; the farm bakery is more budget-friendly). Continue by coach or rideshare toward the Queensland border and detour to Springbrook National Park to walk the Natural Bridge Circuit (~1 hr loop), where a waterfall has carved a natural rock arch over a basalt cave — magical. Then head to Lamington National Park, a UNESCO-listed Gondwana Rainforest, and check into the Binna Burra Lodge or O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat — both sit deep in the rainforest. Take an evening stroll on one of the many trails.

🚌Greyhound or NSW TrainLink coach Byron Bay to Nerang/Gold Coast hinterland (~2 hrs, ~£20), then local taxi or rideshare to Lamington (~£20–25). Alternatively, hire a car for Days 6–7 for flexibility (~£40–50/day split between travellers).
