Fly into Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK). From the airport, take a petit taxi or the 19 bus into the medina — around £3-5, versus the costly private transfer included in commercial tours. Check into your riad or guesthouse in or near the medina. Spend the day wandering Djemaa el-Fna square (UNESCO-listed), exploring the souks, and fuelling up on Moroccan street food. Try a bowl of harira soup, msemen flatbread and fresh-squeezed orange juice — all for under £5. Pick up any last-minute supplies (snacks, sunscreen) in the medina or a nearby supermarket.
