Get your TIMS card and Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) from the Tourism Management Board office in Pokhara (~£15-20 total). Take a taxi or local bus to Shyauli Bazaar (~45min, £3-5), the trailhead for the Ghandruk trek. Today's hike is mostly uphill through diverse terrain — dirt tracks, stone-paved paths, terraced farmland and rhododendron forest. The ascent to Ghandruk village takes approximately 3-4 hours. No guide is strictly necessary for this well-marked trail, but a porter/guide can be hired in Pokhara or at the trailhead (~£20-25/day). Ghandruk is a beautiful Gurung village with stunning Annapurna views.
