Spend a relaxed day in and around Cairns. Take the local bus (~£3) north to Palm Cove — a beautiful beachside village 25km from Cairns with lined palm trees, calm water, and excellent cafés. Swimming is safe here (unlike central Cairns, which has stingers). Back in Cairns, consider optional adventure activities: white water rafting on the Tully River (~£100, full day), bungy jumping at AJ Hackett (~£75), or a scenic hot air balloon flight over the tablelands (~£150 via Cairns Balloon). This evening, have a farewell dinner with travel friends made along the way.
