Day-by-day
Arrive, Check In & Private Canal Cruise
Amsterdam City Centre
Fly into Amsterdam Schiphol and take the direct train to Amsterdam Centraal — it runs every 10 minutes and takes about 15 minutes (£5–7pp). Check into Stayokay Zeeburg or a comparable central hostel such as ClinkNOORD or Generator Amsterdam. Drop your bags, grab a Heineken on the hostel terrace, and get your bearings. In the afternoon or early evening, kick off the celebrations with a private canal boat cruise through Amsterdam's 165 canals. Book directly with operators like Those Dam Boat Guys or Lovers Canal Cruises for a 90-minute private charter with a skipper and a drinks package (unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks included). As evening hits, head out on foot into the Jordaan or Leidseplein for dinner before a big night out.
🚌Train: Schiphol Airport → Amsterdam Centraal, NS Sprinter/Intercity, ~£6pp. Use OV-chipkaart or buy a single ticket at the airport. Trams and metro within the city: ~£2–3 per journey or buy a 24/48-hour GVB travel card (~£8–10).
🛏Stayokay Zeeburg (or equivalent: ClinkNOORD, Generator Amsterdam) — mixed dorm or private room, central location with bar and terrace. Book direct or via Hostelworld. Note: city tax and a behaviour bond (approx. €25pp) payable on arrival.

Note the bike operates outside the city centre due to local licensing restrictions. Round off the night in style with a visit to Holland Casino Amsterdam (free entry, valid ID required) on Max Euweplein for a flutter on the tables before hitting the clubs or heading back to the hostel. Fly home the next morning.
