Self-Launched Balkan 5-Country Sprint: Tirana to Kotor in 6 Days

A fast-moving, self-launched version of Go as Local's 6-day "5 Countries in 6 Days" loop out of Tirana — same route (Ohrid, Skopje, Pristina, Prizren, Shkoder, Zabljak/Durmitor, Sarajevo, Mostar, Kotor) done independently using public buses, a couple of shared minibuses and one train ride. All the classic walks (Ohrid Old Town, Skopje's Stone Bridge, Pristina's Newborn Monument, Prizren Fortress, Rozafa Castle, Sarajevo's Baščaršija, Mostar's Stari Most, Kotor Old Town) are free to explore on foot and most landmarks cost only a few euros. You overnight in hostels/guesthouses rather than 3-4* hotels but the sights are identical. Be warned: this route is a genuine whirlwind — expect 4-7 hours of bus travel on many days. Costs are approximate backpacker/budget-traveller estimates in GBP.
