Scotland & Svalbard (Spitsbergen)

This self-launched equivalent of Exodus's Scotland to Spitsbergen voyage replaces the all-inclusive expedition ship package with a mix of budget accommodation, scheduled ferries, independent flights, and self-booked wildlife excursions — covering the same extraordinary arc from Aberdeen's granite streets through Orkney and Shetland's Neolithic ruins to the icy fjords and polar wildlife of Svalbard. Note: the core Arctic experience (Days 5–16) is inherently dependent on booking a berth on a small expedition vessel sailing from Aberdeen/Lerwick to Svalbard — this is a specialist niche with a handful of operators, and there is no truly "independent" alternative for the open-ocean and sea-ice legs. The strategy here is to book the cheapest available expedition-vessel berth for the Arctic sailing portion (e.g. via Oceanwide Expeditions, Polar Latitudes, or Hapag-Lloyd Cruises on a last-minute basis), handle your own Aberdeen and Longyearbyen logistics independently, and skip the bundled charter-flight package in favour of scheduled flights.
