A self-launched version of Holitera Turizm's private 5-day Eastern Black Sea tour — same tea gardens, stone arch bridges, waterfalls, fortress ruins and misty Kaçkar plateau villages, done independently using dolmuş minibuses, a couple of local taxi hires and a bungalow base in Çamlıhemşin and Ayder. The original runs as a private, partially guided trip at roughly US$2,930 per person (~£2,300); doing it yourself costs a fraction of that while keeping the same bungalow-with-a-view stays. All costs are approximate backpacker/budget-traveller estimates and exclude international flights.
