Qampa / Ausangate, Peru

1 itinerary · 0 open departures · 0 missions

Ausangate is a towering 6,384-metre peak in the Cusco region of the Peruvian Andes, sacred to the Quechua people and one of the most revered apus (mountain spirits) in Andean cosmology. The area is best known for the Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) trail and the classic Ausangate Circuit, a multi-day high-altitude trek that loops around the glacier-clad massif through remote landscapes of turquoise lakes, hot springs, and grazing alpaca herds. Q'ampa refers to the high-altitude plains and passes in this corridor, often encountered along the circuit at elevations exceeding 5,000 metres. Trekkers and mountaineers from around the world come here for raw Andean wilderness, indigenous cultural encounters, and some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in South America.

Missions

Nobody's posted a Mission for Qampa / Ausangate, Peru yet — which, frankly, is an opportunity.

Wait, what's a Mission? It's not a scheduled trip with dates and a minimum group size like a Departure — it's a goal. Learn to dive, do a Muay Thai camp, live somewhere for a month and work on something, chase one very specific experience. Post it, and other people chasing the same thing find you.

Be the first to post one: "Find the most locally-hated tourist trap and go anyway, unironically, in a costume."
