Puno & Lake Titicaca, Peru

1 itinerary · 0 open departures · 0 missions

Puno is a high-altitude city in southern Peru, sitting on the shores of Lake Titicaca at around 3,800 metres above sea level — one of the highest navigable lakes in the world, straddling the border between Peru and Bolivia. The lake is famous for its extraordinary floating islands, handcrafted from totora reeds by the indigenous Uros people, as well as the larger inhabited islands of Taquile and Amantaní, known for their traditional Quechua communities and textiles. Travellers come to explore the lake by boat, experience Andean culture up close, and witness some of the most dramatic high-plateau scenery in South America. Puno itself is also considered the folklore capital of Peru, celebrated for its vibrant festivals, particularly the Fiesta de la Candelaria.

Missions

Nobody's posted a Mission for Puno & Lake Titicaca, Peru yet — which, frankly, is an opportunity.

Wait, what's a Mission? It's not a scheduled trip with dates and a minimum group size like a Departure — it's a goal. Learn to dive, do a Muay Thai camp, live somewhere for a month and work on something, chase one very specific experience. Post it, and other people chasing the same thing find you.

Be the first to post one: "Find the most locally-hated tourist trap and go anyway, unironically, in a costume."
