The Peaks of the Balkans is a 192-kilometre circular hiking trail spanning the remote highlands of Albania, Montenegro, and Kosovo — one of Europe's most dramatic and least-travelled long-distance routes. The trail winds through the Prokletije mountain range, known as the "Accursed Mountains," passing glacial lakes, deep canyons, traditional villages, and peaks exceeding 2,600 metres. Hikers come for raw, unspoiled wilderness and a genuine off-the-beaten-path experience, with the route typically completed over 10–12 days through mountain huts and guesthouses. The Albanian and Montenegrin sections are particularly celebrated for their stunning scenery and the warm hospitality of local highland communities.
