Pakistan's Karakoram and Baltistan region in the far north is home to some of the highest mountains on Earth, including K2 — the world's second-highest peak — along with Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and II, and Nanga Parbat nearby. The Karakoram range contains more glaciers than anywhere outside the polar regions, with the Baltoro and Biafo glaciers drawing serious trekkers and mountaineers from across the globe. Skardu, the regional hub, serves as the gateway for expeditions into the Baltoro, as well as cultural exploration of ancient forts, high-altitude lakes like Shangrila and Satpara, and traditional Balti villages. The region is a bucket-list destination for high-altitude trekking, peak bagging, and adventure travel in genuinely remote and dramatic mountain wilderness.

Self-Launched Karakoram Giants Trek: Masherbrum, K6 & K7 Base Camps

A self-launched, independently arranged version of the classic Hushe Valley / Charakusa Valley trek to the base camps of Masherbrum (K1), K6 and K7 in Pakistan's Karakoram. Instead of a fully guided group trip, you'll fly into Islamabad, take the spectacular flight (or Karakoram Highway backup) to Skardu, and hire a local Balti guide, cook and porters in Hushe for the trekking section — the same trails, the same camps, but booked yourself for roughly a third of the operator price. Suitable for experienced multi-day trekkers comfortable camping above 4000m. All costs are approximate per person, excluding international flights.
