An 11-day self-launched overland route from Windhoek to Cape Town covering Etosha's waterholes, the Spitzkoppe boulders, Swakopmund's adventure scene, Sossusvlei's red dunes and Deadvlei, Fish River Canyon and the Cederberg winelands. The original tour is a small-group, fully guided camping safari costing US$2,115 per person (roughly £1,640 at current rates) before flights. This version swaps the group truck for a mix of Intercape/NAMIBIAN shuttle buses, minivan shuttles and shared 4x4 transfers, and replaces the guide with self-drive day tours, park entry and locally booked activities. Book safari days through local operators in Swakopmund or Windhoek (e.g. Chameleon Safaris, Wild Dog Safaris, Namibia Tours & Safaris) or self-drive with a hired car for the Etosha/Sossusvlei legs — self-drive is often cheaper per person if you're travelling with others but fine solo if you join shuttles. Costs are approximate backpacker/budget-traveller estimates in GBP and exclude international flights.
