You cross three countries on foot — from Bavarian castle country through the Ammergau and Karwendel ranges, over the Krimmlertauern pass into South Tyrol, and finally across the Dolomites to the Venetian lagoon. All transport is bookable yourself (Bavarian regional trains, Austrian ÖBB, Italian/Südtirol buses and long-distance coaches), huts and guesthouses are booked direct, and every hike follows waymarked trails you can download as GPX. Expect 5–7 hours of walking most days, with the toughest days in the Dolomites at the end. Ideal for fit, self-reliant gap-year and slow-travel walkers.
