Karnataka is a large state in southwestern India, bordered by the Arabian Sea to the west and the Western Ghats mountain range running along its coastline. It is home to Bengaluru (Bangalore), India's tech hub and one of its most cosmopolitan cities, as well as a wealth of historical sites including the UNESCO-listed ruins of Hampi, the royal palaces of Mysuru, and the ancient temples of Belur and Halebidu. The state's landscapes are remarkably diverse, spanning coffee and spice plantations in Coorg, wildlife-rich forests in Nagarhole and Bandipur, and pristine beaches along the Konkan coast. Travellers come for trekking in the Ghats, wildlife safaris, cultural heritage, and a thriving food and craft scene rooted in Kannada tradition.
