An 11-day self-launched version of Wingbuddy's semi-guided "Flavors of Italy & Amalfi Coast", rebuilding the same Venice → Florence → Rome → Sorrento/Capri → Pompeii arc using fast trains, regional buses, public ferries and self-bookable tours. The original is only partially guided anyway (free time in Venice, Florence and Rome, with guidance concentrated on the Sorrento/Amalfi leg), which makes it unusually easy to replicate independently — and it fixes the biggest complaint in the reviews: hotels far from the sights. Here you stay in central hostels and budget guesthouses, book skip-the-line entries yourself, and take the same Circumvesuviana/Campania trains the group uses. Estimates are approximate and based on shoulder-season hostel/guesthouse rates, self-catering breakfasts and mid-range daytime food.
