A self-launched, independent version of See Adelaide and Beyond's 4-day Great Ocean Road group tour from Melbourne to Adelaide. Instead of a guided minibus with included meals and motels, you'll string together Victoria's regional V/Line coach network, a couple of short public-transport hops and self-booked dorm beds in Port Campbell, Port Fairy and Naracoorte — hitting the same headline stops (Bells Beach, Great Otway rainforest, the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, Tower Hill, Umpherston Sinkhole, Naracoorte Caves, Hahndorf) at your own pace. Note: without a car the western Victorian coast is genuinely awkward on public transport, so this route uses a mix of V/Line coaches, a pre-booked small-group day shuttle for the Apostles stretch, and the Mount Gambier–Adelaide V/Line link. All costs are approximate and based on budget/backpacker rates.
