A self-launched 19-day version of the classic Everest Base Camp trek combined with an Island Peak (Imja Tse, 6,189m) climb, arranged independently. Fly to Lukla, trek the Khumbu valley via Namche, Tengboche and Pheriche to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, then divert to Chhukung for the Island Peak summit attempt before returning to Lukla and Kathmandu. You book your own guesthouse lodges (teahouses), hire a freelance guide and porter in Kathmandu or Namche for the climbing section, and arrange your own flights and permits.
