Eastern Taiwan

1 itinerary · 0 open departures · 0 missions

Eastern Taiwan is a rugged, largely untouched stretch of coastline and mountains running along the Pacific Ocean, set apart from the island's busy west by the Central Mountain Range. The region is best known for the dramatic Taroko Gorge — a marble-walled canyon carved by the Liwu River — as well as the scenic Hualien and Taitung coastlines, hot springs, and indigenous Amis and Puyuma cultural heritage. Outdoor enthusiasts come for hiking, cycling the famous Pacific Coast Highway, white-water rafting on the Xiuguluan River, and paragliding above the East Rift Valley. It remains one of Taiwan's most scenic and least commercialised regions, attracting travellers seeking nature, adventure, and a slower pace.

Missions

Nobody's posted a Mission for Eastern Taiwan yet — which, frankly, is an opportunity.

Wait, what's a Mission? It's not a scheduled trip with dates and a minimum group size like a Departure — it's a goal. Learn to dive, do a Muay Thai camp, live somewhere for a month and work on something, chase one very specific experience. Post it, and other people chasing the same thing find you.

Be the first to post one: "Find the most locally-hated tourist trap and go anyway, unironically, in a costume."
