Cambodia is a Southeast Asian country bordered by Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos, most commonly accessed overland or by bus from Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam — a popular gateway for travellers combining both countries. It is best known for the ancient Khmer temple complex of Angkor Wat near Siem Reap, one of the largest religious monuments in the world, as well as its turbulent recent history explored through sites in the capital Phnom Penh.
