Arequipa & Colca Canyon, Peru

1 itinerary · 0 open departures · 0 missions

Arequipa is Peru's second-largest city, known as the "White City" for its striking colonial architecture built from white volcanic sillar stone, and sits at 2,300 metres in the southern Andes. It serves as the gateway to Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world — more than twice the depth of the Grand Canyon — carved by the Colca River through dramatic Andean landscapes. The region is famous for spotting Andean condors soaring on thermal currents above Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, as well as trekking, hot springs, and visits to traditional Quechua and Collagua communities. Travellers are drawn here for the combination of well-preserved Spanish colonial history, exceptional food and pisco culture in Arequipa, and world-class adventure in the surrounding highlands.

Missions

Nobody's posted a Mission for Arequipa & Colca Canyon, Peru yet — which, frankly, is an opportunity.

Wait, what's a Mission? It's not a scheduled trip with dates and a minimum group size like a Departure — it's a goal. Learn to dive, do a Muay Thai camp, live somewhere for a month and work on something, chase one very specific experience. Post it, and other people chasing the same thing find you.

Be the first to post one: "Eat the strangest thing on the menu every single day for a week and document the regret."
